Senior Men’s Rugby
Forest Rugby Club has a proud history in the Sydney Suburban Rugby Competition. Established in 1958, we have had success across a number of divisions and individual grades.
The Club is a proud club, with heavy focus on junior pathways and a culture of enjoyment. From 2021, we are in the Kentwell Cup, the highest division of Sydney Suburban Rugby Union and we will put 5 grades and a colts (U/21s) on the field.

Senior Women’s Rugby
Back in 2012, Forest rugby was a leader in creating and nurturing girls rugby in Sydney as one of the inaugural clubs to field an all girls 7s team. There was an appetite for it and it grew and grew from there. Not only for our club but across Sydney wide!!!
The next step for our club is to establish a womens side to wear the green and white and become part of our club. In 2024 we are wanting to take that step. We do so because for one, our senior competition is mandating all clubs in our competition have a women’s team in the coming couple of years but secondly, and more importantly, it is the last missing piece of a club that can cover all age groups and sexes from the little U6s right through to seniors.
Why play at Forest?
Forest has one of the best facilities in Sydney rugby with a clubhouse located directly next to the field. We have confirmed a female head coach and female manager for the team as well. Both have played rugby in their junior days and are keen to help get this off the ground too.
Playing at Forest, unlike other clubs in other competitions, will see the women’s side play on the same day and location as the mens side. Essentially the women’s team becomes part of our Saturday rugby program. This means the supporters that watch the senior mens will also be around for the womens team as well. Being part of game day also involves you with all the social events that happen post game days as well. The womens team will feel a part of the club instead of a team playing just for the club.
How would it work?
We are looking to form a team to play in an inter club 10 a side (10s) competition. 10s is part way between normal 15 a side (15s) rugby and the very fast pace of 7 a side (7s). It gives the best of both worlds. There are proper scrums and lineouts but with a bit more space to run around in and less big contacts as hard as the 15s.
Games are expected to be played after our 1st grade mens side with kickoff around 5pm on a Saturday. Trainings will be on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm which will also give the ladies access to our club physio who comes up on those nights to help with those niggling bumps and bruises.
So who, and how can you get involved?
Firstly the who. We welcome ladies of all sizes, shape and skill level aged 18 up. You don’t need to have played rugby ever to be part of this team. We have qualified coaches to teach you the rules and skills needed to play the game.
How you can get involved is by firstly reaching out by emailing womensrugby@forestrugby.com.au to get any more information you may need and to let us know you are interested.
Training for the women’s side will commence in February 2024 and we want to hit the ground running. There is plenty to learn and plenty to do before we run out in our first ever game.
So come make history at Forest and get involved with the Forest Womens team in 2024!!!
