At Forest Rugby we believe in providing a fun environment for kids to play with their mates and develop their rugby skills. Wining is a by-product of this approach, not the driving force behind it. As a result we pride ourselves on fielding teams in all age groups from Under 6’s to Opens, the only club in our district to do so.
Forest Rugby Club has been promoted to 1st Division within the Sydney Suburban Rugby competition and will be fielding six senior teams, Grades 1 -5 and Colts.
Mini Rugby is a modified non-competitive game for Under 6 to Under 9 girls and boys. Teams consist of 7 to 10 players although equal numbers are required on the field from both teams.
The Forest Rugby Club was established in 1958 to serve the community, not only as a rugby club, but also to assist in the development of youth in the local area. The club has grown dramatically since its inception and now fields junior teams from U6’s to Opens (under 18’s). The Senior club has become one of NSW strongest and now fields 5 senior teams and Colts in the NSW Suburban Rugby Union 1st Division Kentwell Cup.

Mini Rugby
A modified non-competitive game for Under 6 to Under 9 girls and boys…
Forest Rugby is dedicated to making a difference in our community. Our charity partners are carefully selected with two main criteria in mind. We target charities that dedicate themselves to supporting the vulnerable and helping to cause change in areas of social importance plus ensuring our funds can be dedicated to programs directly operating in our local community. Whilst no doubt Rugby is a key focus of the Club, the Committee is passionate about its role and responsibility to contribute more broadly to our community and society in general.
A good try indeed but I’d have nominated the push over !

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to Carly Tracey!! One of our Volunteers of the Month for June. Thank you for all that you do 🙌 💚🤍💚
👉What roles do you fulfill at Forest? Juniors Registrar.
👉What brought you to Forest? My son started playing in U10s back in 2018. Came for my son, stayed for the people (after he stopped playing)!
👉What's your favourite thing about the club? The people! I’ve been involved with kids sport for almost 15 years and can honestly say, the people and culture at Forest is 2nd to none.
👉Favourite team? I guess I would have to say the Waratahs living in NSW, although I have to admit I don’t watch a lot of Rugby, except at Forest!!
👉Favourite player? Brendan Paenga-Amosa
👉Any favourite rugby quote? It’s not a famous quote, but a few years ago, during one of my son’s games, a scrum collapsed and all the kids from both teams were in top of each other. A little voice came from the very bottom, it was our captain saying ‘is everyone ok?’ That typified the person that player is and the culture at the club for me.
Congratulations to Lucy Thompson!! One of our Volunteers of the Month for June. Thank you for all that you do 🙌 💚🤍💚 👉What roles do you fulfill at Forest? I am on the junior committee and I am the Girls Rugby Coordinator and the Volunteer Coordinator. I have also been the U13 manager for a few years now.
👉What brought you to Forest? When our son, Xander was 3 years old he came out of his karate class and saw the seniors playing Rugby. He was instantly obsessed and kept escaping us from the soccer fields to run up to Melwood oval. His obsession finally lit the fire for our 2 girls to have a go at playing as well.
👉What's your favourite thing about the club? We originally moved from Queensland and did not have any family living in Sydney. Over time, the Forest community has truly become our extended family. I especially value the weekly catch-ups with the other mums by the fireplace, which have become a highlight of my week.
I have also come to realise that Forest is quite unique compared to other clubs, as there is a genuine sense of connection across all age groups. I believe our wonderful clubhouse plays a significant role in fostering that strong community spirit.
👉Favourite team? Tough choice! It goes without saying that I love the Tahs and the Wallabies but my all time favourite team has to be my U13's! Those boys make me so proud every time they play and it is so lovely to see them all develop every season.
👉Favourite player? I will get into trouble from Xander for not choosing him but my favourite player is Joseph Suaalii- I will get a life sized cut out of him one day!
The fire was going, the clubhouse was buzzing, and it was fantastic to see so many families staying around after training to connect with teammates, coaches and fellow parents.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the night such a success. Special congratulations to our U15 Fiji Tour group, whose dinner special completely sold out — a fantastic result and wonderful support from our club community. 👏🏉
Muster Nights are all about bringing our Forest family together, creating connections across teams and making our club more than just a place to play rugby.
Our Aim is to be a competitive and successful rugby club that is attractive to players, supporters, and their familes through the playing and promoting of entertaining rugby and providing sporting and social facilities.
We are committed to an open and receptive club where members are encouraged to contribute and develop to their maximum ability so that we continue at all levels to build rugby sportsmanship and friendship in the Forest District.
The Forest Rugby Club Inc is located on the north shore of Sydney in the suburb of Forestville, which is approximately a 30-minute drive from the Sydney CBD.
