Golden Oldies
vs Manly and Gordon 29.05.2011

Well that was fun, lucky all Golden Oldies games end in a draw. This is my fall back position meaning we got our arses smacked.  Did anyone bother to check the Gordon Wingers Birth Certificate, I understand he is in training for the 100 meters at the London Olympics and wanted to practice some side stepping in case terrorists invaded the arena.

I spoke to one of the Manly forwards who played grade on Saturday, he thought it was funny that when he hit an old bloke he could hear their bones cracking.

To put my technical hat on it was our own fault, we didn't control the ball at the break down therefore turning it over at least 21 times. And yes Kenny being a forward I had to take my shoes and socks off plus drop my pants before I could count that high.

It was great to have two new young blokes being David and Andrew Gee both looking under forty therefore without the same level of experience that some of us older folk have. Don't worry they will slow down in due course too.

And Scotty Newman, another new recruit this year, I was looking at Nigel's photos, Obviously a Leaguie from way back cause he smiling in every photo just before he gets pulverized. What do they say, No Brain No Pain. Sorry Kenny but he is a back and as much as you think that any back must be at least half smart here is photographic proof that this is not the case.

By the way Kenny, did you see I played outside centre for Manly, that slowed em down.

Oh and Gorbo, did you notice that by leaving the port out on the field they kept coming back for more through out the game. Maybe if we left a flagon of sherry out there we may win the last third.

All in all it was a great day of rugby with many people staying back to watch the Reds Crusaders game. A big thank you to Tracy, Pat, Kenny, Bob and Paul Davidson all who did a great job behind the scenes to make a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
